Secret Garden

dress: crimson & clover vintage, shoes: gifted
dress: vintage gunne sax gift, hat: crimson & clover, shoes: bought in paris ages ago

While looking for a photo locale worthy of these gorgeous dresses I happened upon a neighborhood community garden down the street. We had so much fun taking pictures in such a beautiful location. Pretty much every one of her turned out adorable so I included quite a few. My Gunne Sax dress was a gift from the very stylish and amazing Ericka.  I have been getting such wonderful clothing as gifts recently. This summer has pretty much been the best ever. I have been going to so many parties and re-connecting with friends and family and really enjoying staying home with my little girl.

Cobrastyle

shoes and dress: thrifted
I got this hat by accident. I went to the co-op to get some food and tried on this hat which also happened to match yesterday's outfit. My sister, who was with me insisted on buying me this hat as a belated birthday present. How is my family so sweet!? I'm so in love with my new hat and it will definitely come in handy given the weather lately. It was 105 degrees today! If this dress looks vaguely familiar it is because I cut the hem of a dress I wore a couple of months ago. Here is the way it originally looked. I've been really into shorter skirts in the summer as they really make the legs appear longer. Summer has officially started and I am having a blast. I don't even care that it is hot out. Shady trees make everything better and Sacramento has a ton of those. I've loved the cover Robyn does of the song cobrastyle but had never seen the music video. Not surprisingly it is also amazing.

The Fabulous Five

Each month I feature five amazing outfits from other style blogs. Here are my June picks.
1. Rosie of rosemud. I just fell in love with this outfit as soon as I saw it. The slightly disheveled look adds so much to what could have been a very prim and proper outfit. The skirt is such a pretty color and drapes her so beautifully. Rosie has such a unique personal style and an absolutely gorgeous blog chock full of thrifted goodness. This photograph is stunning too and there is a lot more loveliness to check out on her website.
2.Marie of Mamushka Marie. I really enjoy doing this feature because although it is sometimes challenging to find what I'm looking for it forces me to discover new blogs. Marie's blog is absolutely wonderful so I am very glad to have found it. The print and color of this dress  is just incredible and I love the white and brown accessories that accompany it. Isn't that purse darling?

3. Whitney of Ladywolf Vintage. I am obsessed with off white lace dresses. I really love how she pairs it with the black shorts and top. The contrast highlights the lace perfectly. That vintage purse is just amazing too. Whitney has incredible style and she is also a photographer and vintage shop owner so her blog is an absolute must see.

4. Rebecca of The Dandelion Girl.  I am always so impressed when people make their own clothes. Rebecca actually saw a picture of this vintage dress on the Cat's Pajamas blog and made a similar one. Now that is someone who has beyond amazing sewing skills and what a lovely dress, both of them. She has a pretty blog too and such lovely settings.
5. Jennifer of Sally Jane Vintage. Jennifer proves it is never too hot outside to be fashionable. Those plaid shorts are such a statement pieces and she lets them shine in this outfit pairing it with a simple tank top. If for some reason you haven't checked out her blog you must. The photography and clothing are stunning.
Next week I have so many outfit posts I hopefully will get a chance to photograph.
Spoiler alert: Gunne Sax!

Obsessions Du Jour

1. gay rights

2. vintage hats
3. mint juleps

Ingredients
  mint
  1 teaspoon sugar
  3 ounces bourbon

Glass Type: old-fashioned glass

Place 5 or 6 leaves of mint in the bottom of a pre-chilled, dry 12-ounce glass or silver beaker. Add sugar and crush slightly with a muddler. Pack glass with finely cracked ice. Pour a generous 3 ounces of Kentucky bourbon over the ice. Stir briskly until the glass frosts. Add more ice and stir again before serving. Stick a few sprigs of mint into the ice so that the partaker will get the aroma.

Street Style

Today I searched the web for some street style inspiration and was not disappointed. Although only four looks made the cut this edition I think they are incredibly inspiring.
1.liverpool, hoy fashion -I love how she completely makes this look her own. The tights, scarf and accessories make a rather normal outfit something beautifully unique.
2. london , nast- I am officially converted to the shirt dress. I will be on the lookout for long shirts to belt while thrifting, something I have overlooked until now. I also love how she wears the turban while still showing most of her hair.
3. style from tokyo -The draping in this outfit makes such a gorgeous silhouette, breathtaking.
4. paris, style clicker  -Those shoes are killer with the leggings  and I love how she ties the shirt and wears the scarf. So beautiful.

Overexposed

100 percent thrifted outfit
I made the "mistake" of taking my picture at 3 instead of 5pm resulting in some pictures I ended up really liking. This dress is a result of an earlier thrifting excursion today with my sister Rosemary and her daughter Eliana. She actually took me for my belated birthday present and it was worth the wait. I found some incredible vintage pieces and she found this lovely black dress for her date tonight. I couldn't have asked for a better gift or a sweeter sister.
100 percent thrifted outfit
The cousins found adorable dresses too.

This weekend is sort of a mystery but I am quite excited. I'm pretty sure we are finally going to do something nature related and I just scored a waffle iron today so I definitely want to test it out.
